Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, inaugurated the historic Mai Qamro Mosque and the Tomb of Sultan Muqarab Khan at Bagh Jogian, Islamabad. Both monuments are included in the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Upon arrival, the Federal Minister was warmly welcomed by Syeda Tanzeela Sabahat Director General Doam (Joint Sectary) Mr. Aman-ullah Advisor to Director General Doam and dignities of the Pakistan Gakhar Federation and officials of the Department of Archaeology & Museums (DoAM). During the visit, the Minister toured the historic complex and reviewed its architectural, archaeological, and cultural significance. Dr. Abdul Ghafoor, Deputy Director, DoAM, briefed the Minister on the historical background of the monuments, their heritage value, and ongoing efforts for their preservation, protection, and promotion. The inauguration marks a significant step toward the recognition and safeguarding of Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage, reflecting the Government’s commitment to preserving historic monuments and archaeological assets for present and future generations.
