Markhian-Jo-Daro

Description: The Markhian-Jo-Daro is located approximately 6 km south-west of Seerani town. It can be accessed from Seerani via Badin sea-coast link road. The site of Markhian-Jo-Daro also known as Shah Noral Daro, it is named after the Markhia community living around the site. It is a very large site, measuring 127.3 m (north-south), 91.1 m (east-west) and is 3 m above ground level. The cultural material scattered over the mound clearly belongs to the Islamic period, it includes plain and painted black on red ware, terracotta quern, terracotta animal figurine, gray ware shards, iron pieces and red color sandstone. Black on red ware with painting on the broad rim of the pots is commonly found in the sites of Islamic period (Sultanate/Mughal Period).
