Nauroze Fort (Kalat)

Description: Nauroze fort is situated at a distance of about 32 km north-east of Kharan town. Nushki Kharan road passes at a distance of about 1.5 km west of the fort across the Buddo stream. Built by Sardar Nawab Sir Nauroze Khan Nosherwani son of Sardar Mir Azad Khan over hundred years ago the impressive fort stands on the left bank of Buddo stream. It is built in burnt bricks with mud mortar, but its lower portion up to a height of about one meter is constructed in ruble stone masonry for strengthening its basis. The fort wall is about 9.1 m high and 4.5 m thick. It has the only entrance facing south, being 1.9 m wide and 2.4 m high. In east-west direction the fort wall is 24.3 m long, while in north-south direction it is 28 m long when measured from outside. There is a vaulted roofed chamber along the northern wall inside the fort, which is 7.3 m long and 2.8 m wide. It has got arched shaped entrance in the northern wall. It is plastered with mud at the interior.
