Imdad Ali

Type: Archaeological Site - Settlement
Province: Balochistan
District: Turbat
Period: Proto Historic
Relative Chronology: 3500 BCE - 1800 BCE
Description: The site of Imdad Ali is located 60 km south-west of Turbat, on the left bank of the Nilag Kaur, just before its junction with the Dasht Kaur to the east. The first one is represented by site 23 on the left bank of the Nilag Kaur to the east. The heavy erosion of the clay sediment makes it difficult to interpret the archaeological context. The site shows large areas covered with shards exposed by the erosion. The second zone, to the west, is represented by site 24, located 1 km westward, along the bank of the Nilag Kaur, around a rocky outcrop. Complete pots brought to us in Turbat came from this part of the site. The south slope of this outcrop shows burial cairns of the Zangian period. The third zone is located on the right bank of Nilag kaur, mainly on the rocky outcrop. Site 60 is a settlement with dry-stone buildings. The pottery belongs to the assemblage discovered in Durrah-I Bast and attributed to the so-called Zangian period. Except from this material, the pottery collected in the Imdad Ali area seems to belong only to the Shahi-Tump assemblage. A sherd with a typical Togau C motif, a frieze of hooks, has also been found.
