Keris Khar (Fort)

Description: This fort -palace was constructed on a ridge on the right bank of the Shyok River in the village of Kiris. It was built on a raised platform, and was constructed using a traditional cribbage-and cator technique, involving timber, stone, adobe and mud. It is a three -floor building and has a rectangular plan. It has a central courtyard on its top floor, and a dominant entrance balcony on its eastern side. The courtyard is surrounded by a row of residential rooms, storage spaces, kitchens, stables, etc.
