Troot Mosque Kooroh

Description: The historic Troot Mosque is located in the Kooroh village on the right bank of the Shyok River. This building is noted for its troot (warmth), hence the name. This mosque is famous for its warmth even in winters. Constructed with traditional materials such as stone, wood and mud, this mosque is closely surrounded by a village settlement. This was originally a single floor structure, but an upper floor was later added to the building. The prayer room on the ground floor is used for prayers during the winter season, and the upper room is used during summers.
