Description: The Kuchey Masjid is located in Taisot, a beautiful valley of Gilgit-Baltistan with Bilchar village as its principal locality, in the vicinity of six thousand Bilchar Peaks in Gilgit District. The mosque is one of the oldest in the region, and dates from the time when the areas populace converted from Buddhism to Islam. As per locals and elders of Taisot/Haramosh, Kuchey Masjid was built by sons of Raaj and Rajam (Elders of Kuchey Family). It is the first Islamic Masjid in Bagrot and Haramosh Valleys as it was built by Kuchey Family in the 7th or 8th Century AH. The mosques construction style is similar to the Roman opus canticum, in which masonry walls that are suitable for the regions harsh winter season.
