In the 17th century Haldi was a strategic village for the Khaplu kingdom primarily due to its location at the confluence of the Saltoro and the Hushe rivers. It is the birth place of famous Balti poet Bwa Johar Ali. The Khanqah is said to be 620-year-old, which has a beautifully decorated entrance verandah with detail lattice work and wooden arches.
