Manawar Sharif Mosque (chamb)

Description: The mosque is located around 1 km to the south of Chakpandit temple at extreme line of control between Pakistan and India and approached by following Chamb to Gujrat Road. The mosque is rectangular in plan and divided into three chambers. The central chamber with mihrab is to the western wall, which is surrounded by volute and squinch dome. The right chamber has a vaulted dome with pointed mihrab on the western side and small niches on the either side of the mihrab. The left one also has shallow pointed arches and entrance door. The floor is plastered with lime and in red color. The central mihrab has a (minbar) pulpit. The facade is renovated with modern parapet and two minarets, white in color. The courtyard of the mosque is also original and has lime plaster in some places; rest of the area is cemented. It has a boundary wall, made up of standardized terracotta bricks and has water tank on southern side. Two marble plates have been placed in front of the mosque wall having description regarding the foundation and date of construction. It is unreadable. The front wall is decorated with Islamic calligraphy.
