Gulshan-e-Shuhada Temple

Description: The site is positioned about 10 km north-east of Rawalakot city, nearby Gulshan-e-Shuhada Housing Scheme and approached by main Rawalakot city entrance road. Monument is located on the top of flat surface of the cliff, at a height of 8 to 10 m, which is hexagonal in plan with octagonal platform and facing towards the south. It is built up with limestone. Lime mortar has been used as bonding material and plastered on the inner side. The dome is semi-circular in form and erected with scorched bricks. Remains of a rectangular hall and small room are visible in front of the monument. Staircase has been provided in the north-east side of the monument which consists of 5 to 7 steps. Entrance of the monument built up in the form of pointed arch of which only the lintel is preserved. A small quantity of red ware pottery in fragmentary form was collected from the landing of the site.
