Description: The fort is located on the bank of river Jhelum. It is surrounded by river Jhelum on north-western and southern side. It is built in dressed sandstone, which is available in the surrounding area. The material used in the exterior structure of the fort is dressed sandstone, laid in mud motor. The height of the fort varies at different points. The roof of the fort is no more existing, due to the earthquake and human vandalism. The overall shape of the fort is a composition of the different polygons joint together by monumental walls. The main entrance shows the Sikh style architecture, stands in the eastern wall. The slits are the most dominating features in the interior of the fort. They are different in sizes. The interior and exterior structure of the fort is laid in lime and plastered with same material. According to the local people there were four temples inside the Mangla fort and there were also four saints living inside the temple. There were four gurus dealing with temple affairs, namely Guru Karam Singh, Ghanpat Gir, Aiysher Ghir and Mohan Ghir.
