Description: Bhatti Gate, one of the thirteen gates built by Mughal Emperor Akbar, to protect the Walled City of Lahore. It is one of the two oldest entrance points into the walled city which controlled the only major north-south thoroughfare during Ghaznavid time. Bhati Gate is so called after the Bhattis, a Rajput tribe, a colony of whom originally lived in this quarter. It appears that the present building of gate is of British period.
