British Army Memorial

Description: The memorial is constructed on a low recessed platform of three terraces. Lower measures 2.83x2.83m square, second one measures 2.42x2.42m square and the last one measures 1.50m square. Terraces are constructed with single row of sand stone, 12cm thickness. Memorial obelisk is in tapering shape measuring 1.5x1.5m square at the base. Obelisk is 2.20m high, above is stepped parapet. On north-west side of the obelisk is a 76x46cm recessed panel which once had plaque with some inscription, which had been removed, inside of the panel is filled with standard size bricks laid in lime mortar. The height of obelisk is 2.54 m. It is of mid-19th Century CE and has similar architectural traces as Nicolson Monument Taxila. The obelisk is constructed on a cultural mound of Kushan Period; most part of the mound has been levelled by cultivators.
