Tomb of Jan Baba at Makli Hills

Description: It is located inside the Makli Hills necropolis of Thatta, to the east of Mirza Isa Khan Tarkhan-II on the southern fringe of the Makli hills The tomb of Jan Baba is constructed amazingly with excellent piece of architecture designed on the walls of the tomb. The stone are carved and joint beautifully which enhances its beauty and attracts visitors. Tomb is decorated with floral designs & geometric Medallions. The bricks from which the tomb building are of very high quality and perfectly baked. Enamel tiles which were used in the construction reflect Persian designs while the stone carving and other such elements reflects indigenous styles mixed with. Pakistan is the city with beautiful sceneries and also for the historical building which attracts many people towards it. People should visit these tombs and see the great art works which were done by earlier people. Built in 1664 CE by his son Isa Khan Tarkhan-II. Jan Baba was killed in rivalry with his brother Mirza Baqi Beg Tarkhan. According to an inscription he was killed in 1570. His tomb was built by his son Isa Khan Tarkhan-II in 1608. The grave of Jan Baba along with graves of other members of his family are under sheltered baradari type building built over a raised platform, while the womenfolk are buried in a separate chamber in the north-eastern corner. The rectangular building is protected by high walls with a prayer niche in the western wall. Entrance to the monument is provided from the south under a covered baradari type verandah also built on a raised platform.
