Description: The old city popularly known as Andhar Shehr was protected by a wall, originally earthen but later strengthened by brick facing, erected during Sikh regime, with sixteen gates. The old wall still runs round the city along with the gates, though renovated and some removed, marking the extent of the pre-British city. The gates are named (clockwise): (1) Kabuli Darwaza (2) Darwaza Andar Shahr (Asamai) (3) Kachehri Darwaza (Tangsali) (4) Reti Darwaza (5) Rampura Darwaza (6) Hashtnagari Darwaza (7) Lahori Darwaza (8) Ganj Darwaza (9) Darwaza Ekkatut (10) Kohati Darwaza (11) Saraki Darwaza (12) Sard Chah Darwaza (13) Sar Asiya (or Tabiban) Darwaza (14) Darwaza Ramdas (15)Dabgari Darwaza (16) Bajauri Darwaza. Sar Asia Gate is also known as Tabiban Darwaza. It is an arched gateway supported by octagonal corner bastions.
