Shahi Tump

Type: Archaeological Site - Settlement
Province: Balochistan
District: Kech
Period: Proto Historic
Relative Chronology: 3500 BCE - 1800 BCE
Description: The archaeological site of Shahi Tump is located in the District of Ketch, in the suburbs of the Turbat Town. The site which lies near the southern limit of the oasis was excavated by Stein in 1928. It measures 90 x 90 m. The pottery is mostly from the so-called period of Shahi Tump cemetery which follows the abandonment of the settlement. But Togau C ware and Dasht assemblage shards have also reported. The occupation of the oasis during the Zangian period has also been suggested by some shards found on the surface of the mound.
