Province: Sindh
District: Dadu

Description: Tomb of Dayo Faqir is located about 2.4 km west of Khudabad mosque on N-55 (old Indus Highway) and can be accessed from N-55 via link road to Dayo Faqir tomb near Mian Yar Muhammad Kalhoro tomb complex. The tomb of Dayo Faqir is known to have been built during the reign of Mian Yar Mohammad Kalhoro (1701-1718). He was believed to have been a Wazir of Mian Yar Mohammad, perhaps deputed to deal with livestock affairs. The tomb of Dayo Faqir is oblong in plan, it is constructed with slop molded bricks, mud is used as mortar with lime plaster. The tomb has one opening which is on the eastern side. It is a vaulted-roof structure with walls provided with slanting eave and three recessed panels and arch openings of equal size on the east and the west and one recessed panel and arch opening on the northern and southern sides. The arch openings on the eastern, northern and western sides were provided with decorative perforated brick work (jali) but at present with the exception of one arch opening on the western side the rest have now lost this element. The spandrels of central arches on the east and the west are adorned with peacock motifs. The recessed panels above the arch openings on all the four sides of the tomb depict fruit dish patterns in fresco. The interior of the tomb is decorated with floral patterns. A single grave exists inside the tomb (Kalhora Period).
