Karohar -Jo-Daro

Description: The site lies 735 m north-west of Badlo Khan Chandio village, it can be accessed from Maid Shahid village via earthen track to Karohar -Jo-Daro. It is a very large site, measuring approximately 45.7 m in length, 44.8 m in breadth and about 12 m. high from the surrounding cultivated area. There are evidences of a burnt brick wall, visible in the northern part of the mound exposed after illegal digging by the local people. Heavy concentration of cultural material was found on the site which clearly belonged to the Mature Indus period ranging between 2500-1850 B.C. The cultural material on the surface included: plain, painted, incised and perforated pottery of typical Mature Indus period, other material collected from surface comprised of potsherd with Indus script symbol, gray ware, terracotta bangles, lithic blades, stone ball, black stone and flakes. There is recent presence of graveyard on both (southern and eastern) sides of the site.
