Rohtas Fort


Rohtas Fort, one of the largest forts in South Asia is a majestic and unique specimen of 16th century’s military architecture and was originally built on the orders of Sher Shah Suri in 1541 AD to serve as a defensive post and making it an invincible strong hold. The Fort is irregular in plan with a circumference of about 4 kilometers. The fortification was strengthened with 72 circular bastions and pierced with twelve large gates and three small gates.
