Hinidan Tombs

Description


Hinidan is located about 21 km north-west of Karachi on the right bank of Habb river. From Habib Chauki, Doorejee road, which through un-metaled, but quite motorable loads to Hinidan through the hill torrents and the Habb river, which is still without a bridge. At a distance of about 17 the Shrine of Pir Hassan or Hassan Pir, in the mast of a graveyard in Chaukhandi style. From Hasan Pir, the graveyard at Hinidan is about 65 km. The graves at Hinidan, which number more than 71 are in a good state of preservation. The close study of the graves has brought to notice many new features. The head-stones are in a variety of design; some depicting the sun-flowers on the top, others in rectangular shape resembling the fortification wall with marlon designs. Some head stones are of a roundish-shape culminating in a pointed columns towards the sky. The central portion of most of the graves is in the form of a coffin carrier. The handles on both the sides are projecting towards out-side. The top of the handles is engraved with sun-flowers which are in full blossom. This feature has also not been found on similar graves elsewhere.
