Description
The great mound of Daber Kot is located four km away towards south of historical site of Thore Dheri in Duki on the Thal plain of Loralai district is spread over a large area comprising over about 46000 sq.m and 35 m high. It was first recognized as an archaeological site in 1898 by Dr. Fritz Noetling, a paleontologist, but he had no idea of the age of this site. It was later visited by Stein in 1904 and again in 1927. During his second visit he conducted excavations. The site was also visited by Mr. Ross in 1944 and Fairservis in 1953, whereas Dr. Mughal and Dr. Dales also paid visited here in 1972-73. The great site with overwhelming mass of pottery on the surface demonstrates a concept of huge human settlement for considerable time. Survey and excavation reports published by Ross in 1946 and Stein in 1929 revealed more than enough information about the culture profile and human civilization passed through the region. Its chronology was ranging from 3200 BCE to 6th century CE (Makin Khan 2019:109-112).
