The old town of Amb is situated in the Salt Range 8 km due south of Sukesar Peak. The area of the temple covers about 10 acres of strewed stones. There are three temples in the fort one large and two small built of blocks of kankar which date back to 9th -10th century CE. These were originally plastered. The large temple stands on a platform 27.4 m long about 19 m broad and 1.8 m high. The temple has the ground storey 1.3 sq.m, the middle one 3.6 m and the upper nearly 3 m. The total height of the temple including the plinth is about 18.2 m. The style of ornamentation is Kashmiri.
