Mound Mian Ali Faqiran

Description

The ruins at the village of Mian Ali Faqiran are situated 75 km due west of Lahore just south of Lahore-Pindi Bhattian Road and 5 km from the modern town of Khankah Dogran. The vertical and horizontal excavations during the year 1979-80, 81, 83 and 1985, helped to establish the chronological fame work on the basis of stratification, parallels and synchronism of the sites. The digging also revealed the structural remains of both mud and burnt bricks. Remains of a fairly preserved well and remains of early and late massive walls measuring 2.45 m and 1.35 m respectively are visible. Thus, the antiquity of this ruined city has been traced back from 2nd century B.C. to the close of the 14th century of CE. Apart from the structural remains over 1500 antiquities have been recovered from the stratified layers.
