The quadrangle now occupied by the garden called Huzuri Bagh with a marble Baradari in its center was originally a sarai built by Aurangzeb. The marble baradari was constructed by Ranjit Singh from materials obtained by despoiling the Mughal buildings in Lahore. This building measures 4.2 sq.m; two storeyed with underground chambers and built entirely in white marble. The original ceiling was decorated with stucco tracery inlaid with convex mirrors. To the north of Huzuri bagh is the Roshani Darwaza, one of the gateways of the town.
