Among the most remarkable structures at Makli is the two-storey stone tomb of the Tarkhan ruler Isa Tarkhan-II (d.1651). It is located within its own enclosure. It is on a raised plinth and can be entered from all the four sides. The remains lie in a two storey impressive building where walk-ways on both levels are supported by square columns carrying classical Tarkhan capitals, and giant arched entrances provide frontage to a large true dome, possibly among the first to be erected in stone. The entire structure carries a high degree of ornamentation as a testimony to Tarkhan artisanship.
